Goal Setting

The first step of any journey should always be to determine the destination.  I am talking about setting your fitness goals in particular.  Most people have heard of SMART goals, but for personal goals, I prefer the SCAMPI model. The acronym is as follows... Specific Challenging Achievable Measurable Proximal Inspirational     This is similar to the SMART model with a few changes.  Specific is often overlooked in fitness goals, it is common enough to see "I want to lose some weight".  It would be helpful to define how much is "some".  Challenging is necessary because conquering a difficult problem will give a sense of accomplishment.  This is balanced with Achievable.  When a goal is impossible it only ends in defeat.  Measurable is another item that is often skipped over.  It is difficult to determine if a goal of "looking better" is accomplished, but hitting a body fat percentage can be objectively checked....

About Me

Growing up I was always skinny, often called scrawny.  One day during the height of the COVID pandemic I realized I had a little bit of a gut and wanted to figure out how to fix that.  I knew that if I just went on a diet and lost weight I would go back to a figure that wasn't much better.  After doing some research I learned this body type was called "skinny fat" and the best solution was to work on putting on some muscle.  After learning more, the nerd in me took over and I wanted to understand everything there was to know about achieving my ideal body image.  Eventually, I got to the point where I noticed many other people would love to improve themselves but don't have the time to learn or know where to start.  One of my goals is to be part of a super supportive community of people who can be just as happy about each other's success as they are about their own.
